Joining the Crew

As Kane flipped the package over in his hands, there were no other markings but a few crease marks from the old paper. He heard footsteps. Tossing the package on the bed, Kane covered it swiftly so no one would see. He had a good idea what the package contained, and didn't want anyone to find out just yet. Who would have given him a sword?

Neko showed up, failing at concealing her worried face. "What?" Kane asked, "What is it?" he had yet to open the package behind him, but he would hide it from the immortal for now.

[im thinking that the new character should be a girl, but your going to have to give me more detail if you want her involved with Neko's sister. Otherwise, she might be just a love interest for Kane <3]

[Neko-chan]

"My sister is in trouble. You have to help me find her." Neko knew she was horrible at hiding panic, so she gave up trying. "My life almost ended when I thought she was dead the first time. I can't lose the hope I have. Please? You have to help me. She's all I have left to live for. I'm sure Alexandria will reward you. I'll reward you. I know magic, I'll remove your curse. Just please help me."

Kane almost fell backwards. Remove his curse? That couldn't happen. "I'll help," He grew serious, "but don't promise things you can't fulfill." He turned away. "If we're gonna save your sister, you'll have to tell Jack. He's the one who can help you the most." looking back over his shoulder, he saw Neko's panicked face. "I'll do my best."

[Neko-chan]

"I can with Alexandria's help. Twins are strongest together." tears filled Neko's eyes. "I can tell Jack, but you'll be of the most help. Please. My sister is everything to me. Please."

"I said I will..." Kane turned to Neko, "But I have never wielded a sword... I can't fight." Cautiously, Kane walked up to the immortal. "But I'll do my best." He opened his arms, awaiting her embrace.

[Neko-chan]

Neko felt immediate calm, though she was confused as to what Kane was doing. "Thank you. I'll teach you to fight, just like I taught Roger. Though it will be strange. You aren't five. . . . What ARE you doing, standing like that?"

At first Kane was taken aback, then he laughed, "It's called a hug." He answered.

[Neko-chan]

"Oh. Roger used to hug me." She sighed at the memory. "And my parents. I guess I forgot about it."

"Your only fifty." Kane sighed, and before Neko could do anything he swiftly embraced her.

"...who's Roger by the way?" He asked cheekily.

[Neko-chan]

Neko pulled away, uncomfortable with the contact. "A little boy I took in about twenty years back. He was like a son to me." Her.heart squeezed in her chest and a tear slipped out. "Jeff, my human fiance killed him and stabbed me through the heart. Both literally and figuratively." Rage filled her and she slammed a fist into the wall, causing some wood to splinter and dig into her knuckles. "If I ever see that bastard again I'll rip his heart out with my bare hands."

As Neko pulled away, Kane felt sorry for her. As a friend, even if they had only just met, it would be nice to be able to comfort her. His heart sank at her unhappiness. "Let's go find Jack." He suggested, his hand on her shoulder.

"Okay. Just a second." Neko pulled the splinters out of her hand and watched as her royal blue blood oozed a bit before the wounds healed. "Sorry about that. I guess I'm still peeved about the whole thing."

Kane shook his head. It was hard to understand Neko. Suddenly, he remembered his gift, the sword. What was he going to do with it? How was he going to explain it to Neko?

Carefully, he chose his words. "Neko," He started, walking to Jacks cabin, "is it normal to, uh, receive gifts for joining a pirate crew?"

[Neko-chan]

Neko thought about for a moment, her ears twitching. "I'm not sure." She shrugged. "Then again I've never been a pirate before, so I wouldn't know for sure anyway. But, I don't think so."

"Oh, well, that sounds right." Kane replied as they reached the captain's door. 'Why does the note say "welcome aboard" then? Or a better question would be why did they leave a note? Even better, why give me anything at all?' Kane thought desperately, then decided to shove the idea aside as he opened the door.
