Kane felt his emotions flare in rage at himself. He could have said no, he could have just killed the man, and he could have avoided a horrible flashback for Neko. It was time he came to reason. "I don't want to stay in the dark anymore," Kane said slowly, "I have to face reality and in that, I will help you. I want to do whatever I can."

Kane followed Neko to the Kitchen where they smelt not steak, but something quite the opposite.
"What is that?" Kane held his nose.
The cook eyed him. "This is what we serve 'ere. Get used ta it." As the cook said that, he dipped the ladle into the pot and scooped out a large serving of unidentifiable stew.

"I am so not eating that. Move over." Neko shoved him to the side and took over and started adding spices until the soup smelled good. She took a sip of the soup with a spoon and then brandished the spoon at the cook. "This is my kitchen now. Understand?"

"Well yeah, but I do need good food first. Now go find me some steak. I smell some around here somewhere." Neko lifted her nose to the air. "Should be in the cabinet next to the sink, sitting on ice. It's nice and raw and is just waiting for some yummy spices. . . . It's a good thing I'm a gourmet chef."

Kane sighed and found the steak exactly where Neko said it would be. Why anyone would keep a steak in a cabinet was beyond him, but he slipped it on a plate and handed it to Neko.

"Yay. Steak." Neko grinned and grabbed a skillet from where it was above the stove. She put the steak on it and within a few minutes the kitchen wws filled with the smell of spices and cooking meat. "Want a taste?" She asked Kane.

It may have been strange to keep a steak in a cabnient rather than an icechest, but he nodded as he watched Neko gather the spices and seemingly decorate the slab of meat with them.
